I'm Casey, I'm 23 years old and work at a photography studio in East London. I live in Dalston but I prefer Shoreditch. I can't read maps, I don't like umbrellas and I can often be found with my hood up indoors. I say amazing more than any other adjective, I think this is quite a positive thing.

Accuracy? You’d better hope that target’s the side of a barn.

In order to pay my rent and afford to eat foods that don’t consist of the words “pot,” “super” or “instant” I have been working behind the bar at a World Cup event in Shepherds Bush. It’s hard work and the shifts are exhausting, my body is paying the price for a long period of not really doing very much and carrying barrels up four flights of stairs is causing more than a few aches.

Work is always made better by the people around you, in a situation like bar work the people there will often be students, young professionals earning a bit extra or people like myself who just need some quick money. When you spend twelve hour shifts together being rushed off your feet and bumping into each other every five seconds it’s difficult not to make a new friend or two. Eventually they become like your family and part of the reason you say yes to going to work in the morning rather than hitting the snooze alarm a fourth time.

As much as I hope I’m in a better position job-wise in the near future I’m happy where I am now. I work with good people, real people and although none of us are in this for a career we all work as part of a team and get the job done which feels pretty satisfying. Plus, when it’s all said and done and the last flag waving, ‘Vindaloo’ singing Stella drinking punter goes home, we can all have a drink, mine’s a Mojito.
