Wavves - To The Dregs

San Diego Lo-fi punk band Wavves started out as the bedroom project of 22 year old Nathan Williams in 2008. The recordings on 2009’s ‘Wavvves’ are rough and dirty but possess a fantastic youthful energy and tracks like ‘So Bored’, ‘No Hope Kids’ and ‘Beach Demon’ are all fine examples of excellent songwriting and a unique homemade sound. ‘To The Dregs’ is one of many joyously raw garage rock pieces of this promising young lads back catalogue, let’s hope he doesn’t let incidents like last years much publicised on-stage breakdown at Primavera get in the way of what songwriting like this deserves.
